Fencing Improvement Project Set to Begin March 5, 2018

On October 5, 2017, the City of Galveston Purchasing Department received bids for the Scholes International Airport Fence Improvement project. Of the nine bids received, Barrier Fence Systems was selected as the general contractor.

During a February 20th pre-construction meeting at the Scholes International Airport terminal, Barrier Fence submitted their construction schedule with a start date of March 5, 2018, and completion in early June. Approximately 20,077 linear feet of PVC-coated fencing will be installed along the airport property line, as well as two new vehicle access gate operators.

The fencing improvement project is a part of continuing airport improvements and is an important and essential step to the further economic development of the airport. Attached below is the proposed construction schedule which, of course, is subject to change. We will provide you with updates as this project progresses.
