UPDATE: The Galveston Island 150 Air Race

UPDATE: Due to impending rain the Galveston Island 150 Air Race has been rescheduled to Saturday, October 13, 2018. If you weren't able to register before, now's your chance! Hope to see you at the races!

It’s “ISLAND TIME” once again! Scholes International Airport invites all pilots to the Galveston Island 150 Air Race on September 29, 2018. Back by popular demand will be the exciting “Texas Twister” course. TEN turns to keep you on the stick! Soar up, down, round and round Galveston Island and the Bay.

Aircraft will compete in 4 categories: Experimental, Factory, Heavy Metal, and Handicap class. There is no extra fee for Handicap Class, all you need is a plane that can carry a check pilot for handicapping that has full access to all controls and instruments. If you are eligible please take part in this class as all in class have an equal chance of winning!

Racers receive event t-shirts, swag bags, posters, decals, and meals. Awards ceremony will be after the race. Galveston is past the peak tourist season so hotels will be a bit less. All is still in full swing on the island, the Galveston ArtWalk and the 35th Annual Galveston Greek Festival will be held the same weekend of the race. Here's a great opportunity for a long weekend of racing and island fun!
