Construction Project at Scholes International Airport – Timeline & Bid Info

We’re excited to share details about upcoming major improvements at Scholes International Airport, made possible through grant support from Congressman Weber and the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT).


Project Overview:

The upcoming project will relocate Taxiway E, reconstruct the general aviation apron with new aircraft pads for C-17 aircraft, and improve drainage near Taxiway C.


Project Cost: $7.3 million

Funding: 90% from TxDOT | 10% from the City of Galveston


Important Dates to Know:

  • Pre-Bid Conference: April 23, 2025 at 10:30 AM

    Location: Scholes International Airport, 2115 Terminal Drive, Galveston, TX

  • Bid Deadline: May 14, 2025 at 2:00 PM

  • City Council Approval of Grant (Anticipated): May or June 2025

  • Estimated Construction Start: July 2025

  • Estimated Completion: Second quarter of 2026
